Now is the time to have a serious conversation about what the district is doing to protect our children and how it is working with law enforcement and first responders to be prepared. This year alone, there have been 16 school shootings throughout the country. When I send my children to school, I want to know that the district is doing all that it can to protect them in the event of a serious incident. Why is Niskayuna one of the few districts that doesn’t utilize this resource? Currently Niskayuna is the only school district in Schenectady County without any school resource officers (SROs). I would like to support Kristin Duffy for the Niskayuna school board.Īs a parent of three children in the district, my biggest concern is my children’s safety at school. Hochul, may God help you in your important calling. I am hoping that she is capable of making good financial decisions by putting truth ahead of style, integrity ahead of politics and transparency at all levels of government. Hochul thinking that we will finally be getting transparency, integrity and sensible spending in state government. Two million dollars is an enormous amount of money that could have been used for education, health care, drug addiction, law enforcement and many other worthy projects. The governor has a salaried team of communications professionals, policy analysts and budget experts to help her tell New Yorkers the good and bad news of the state of affairs in New York. Kathy Hochul spent $2 million on outside consultants to help her write her 20 State of the State addresses. I was distressed, no, outraged, to read the April 19 Gazette’s editorial (“Hochul speech consultants raise questions,”) that Gov. If they can move 15 feet when struck, they can move 50 feet under the right circumstances. Large rocks close to the edge of your property near the road are a danger in themselves. The road needs to be fixed in more ways than one speeding is only part of the problem for safety. The road is full of sunken manhole covers and drainage street gutters and potholes. If they were the answer, then why not put stop signs on Albany Street or even State Street? ![]() ![]() Stop signs on a heavily traveled commercial road are not the answer and may even be illegal on a commercial road such as Kings Road. ![]() The only thing that will deter speeding is law enforcement and secondly reinforce educating drivers to obey the traffic laws. In response to the April 29 article (“Residents raise alarm about speeding on Kings Road,”) stop signs along the road and large rocks on your property are not the answer to speeding.
